Within the program “Days of Czech Film”, the Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Old Rozyal Capital Cetinje and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Montenegro organized the screening of the film “The Teacher” at the National Library “Đurđe Crnojević”. H.E. Karel Urban, Ambassador of the Czech Republic and H.E. Roman Hloben, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovakia to Montenegro were present at the screening of the film.
“The film is a shocking and eternally up-to-date story, inspired by the true event, by the director-screenwriter duet Jan Hřebejk and Petr Jarchovsky, that depictures the power of a human character. The lives of children and their parents in the suburbs of Bratislava changed completely when in 1983 the school employed a seemingly kind teacher Maria Drazděchová, interpreted by famous Czech actress Zuzana Mauréry. The school management starts to suspect the teacher’s corruption, prompting the director to convene an emergency meeting of parents and invites them to sign a petition against the politically well-networked Drazděchová. A group of parents decides to take this step, aware that they put the future of their families at stake. For the role of the corrupted teacher Zuzana Mauréry received the Best Actress Award at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival”.
Except in Cetinje “Days of Czech Film” were organized in Podgorica and Berane.
