This year again, on November 28and 29, the Institute of Information Sciences from Maribor organized a traditional COBISS Conference where competent lecturers from Slovenia and abroad presented some of the novelties in the COBISS system.
The delegation from Montenegro had 24 participants from the National COBISS Center, National Library, university, academic, special, public and school libraries. Most of the participants from Montenegro participated for the first time at the Conference, and it was an excellent occasion for socializing and exchanging expert opinions.
The first day of the Conference was dedicated to the main topic “School Libraries in the Global Bibliographic Information Network”, at which were presented the benefits of including school libraries in the COBISS system. In addition, a new version of OPAC – COBISS + was presented, and experiences in the implementation of cataloging with normative control, as well as numerical indicators of the operation of all systems within COBISS.Net.
The second day was dedicated to the presentation of the report on the work of the national COBISS centers between the two COBISS conferences. The report on the work of the National COBISS Center of Montenegro was presented by Vjenceslava Ševaljević, the Head of the Center.
Besides Ms. Ševaljević, the third session of the COBISS.Net Council was attended by Bogić Rakočević, director of the National Library of Montenegro. During the session were summarized the results of the previous work of this body, decisions regarding future activities were made and the leaders of COBISS Centers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro were awarded for contribution to the inclusion of new libraries into the COBISS system.
