The International Children’s Book Day was marked yesterday at the Library in Cetinje with an exhibition of books created by Milenija Vračar, library consultant of the National Library “Đurđe Crnojević”.
Children’s poets Dragiša Jovović and Rajko Joličić presented themselves to the audience and at the end of the program they donated copies of their books to pupils of Cetinje’s schools. The National Library of Montenegro also donated books from its funds.
Let’s recall, the International Children’s Book Day is celebrated around the world every April 2 since 1967, in order to point out the importance of children’s literature and development of reading culture from the earliest age. This date was not selected randomly. On April 2 was born one of the greatest and most famous writers of children’s fairy tales, famous Dane Hans Christian Andersen.
