Dragana Marković, a senior librarian of the National Library of Montenegro attended “Use of Cobiss3/Cataloging Software – Advanced Course” at the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade from 20 to 24 November.
This course is intended for librarians who already have the privilege to create records for monographic publications in the system of shared cataloging in the COBISS3 environment, in order to enable them to independently create records for other types of library materials.
The contents of the course include introduction to COMARC/B format for different types of materials, creation of bibliographic records, short overview of MARC 21 format and its mapping into COMARC/B format, COMARC/B format and specificities in managing bibliographies, preparation and bibliography entries and updating the CORES database which is a specialized database with data on current and former editors and other individuals and corporations participating in the creation of continuous sources.
After the course, participants have the opportunity to acquire the privileges for the mutual cataloging of integral parts, i.e. articles, continuous sources (serial publications), integrative sources and non-library materials.
