Participants of the Summer School of Montenegrin Language and Culture,
accompanied by their professors visited the National Library of
Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” yesterday. These are six students from
prestigious American universities, and the program they attend includes,
in addition to classes, visits to important Montenegrin institutions.
Slađana Sjekloća, coordinator for international cooperation,
introduced them to the history, work and funds of the Library. Together,
they toured part of the building of the former Italian Embassy, where
they had the opportunity to see how library materials were and are
kept, as well as the way the Reading Room works. They also viewed the
display of the exhibition “From Mara and Dafina, to Jovana and Stana:
women in the holdings of the former Palace Archives (1485 - 1833)”,
which is currently open to visit in the Library’s hall.
The National Library of Montenegro supports all activities aimed at
promoting the Montenegrin language and culture, and we were pleased to
make this tour possible for the students.
